Lighthearted and easy to ready. Loved all the depictions into what it’s like to grow up within the korean culture. I think the book is a refreshing perspective to dealing with fatphobia. Also the bi representation was just a cherry on top of everything! . I’m hoping more of the books from the author have very similar topics in them!

I think I’ve found another favorite book of the year! This is one of the ones that I desperately wish had been around when I was in high school. I’m sitting here crying because this book made me so ridiculously happy that it exists now (and it takes so much for me to cry over a book). It’s lovely to see a fat character like Skye, genuinely loving the body they’re in and for the story to not focus on her losing weight to feel loved or accepted. It made me so, so happy to see her living her best life and standing up not just for herself, but for everyone who’s ever been told they can’t do something because of their size. There were so many lines and quotes that I highlighted in this book because they were things that hit home. I felt so seen and understood by this book. I just want to scream at the top of my lungs that everyone should read I’ll Be The One. It was a fantastic book and I’m giving it a solid five stars. And now I need to go dry my eyes 😭.

This is the fluffy, happily-ever-after, YA romance that I crave every now and then. I loved this book and it made me smile reading it. I liked that this book dealt with fatphobia and beauty standards in Korean and American culture. It also dealt with strained parent/child relationship, LGBTQ+ issues, and bullying. I loved that Skye had support from friends and others, but she was ultimately her own source of encouragement. She believed in herself and gave herself confidence, even if it meant battling the voices in her head. There is a good amount of queer characters and I am happy that there is bi representation! Lots of pop culture references and, of course, K-pop songs and references! I will be thinking about Henry for a very long time because he is simply perfect.

This was a cute story line with a strong female lead. I love that even though she was confident and loved what her body could do (dance!) we still saw that words and judgment from other could hurt.
