A Quiet Life by Ethan Joella

A QUIET LIFE is like sharing your deepest heartache with the closest of friends. The kind of friend who doesn’t try to fix things with well-intentioned words and simply listens intently. The kind of friend who can empathize in ways others can’t. The kind of friend that buoys you onward just by their steady presence.

A QUIET LIFE follows three people each grieving a deep loss; the details are different but the heavy heart is universal. The magic of the story is how their lives intersect. Ethan Joella doesn’t offer readers platitudes or hollow promises of a quick fix for loss. Instead, he highlights the beauty that can be found when we choose to let others into our mess. His words paint a stunning picture of how we truly need one another.

You’re going to want two copies of this one: an audio for the way the multiple narrators bring these characters and their vulnerabilities to life and a physical to capture the timeless truths on the pages and remember them on your shelves.

I hope you’ll pick up this tender story of loss and connection, heartache and healing. Readers walking through raw grief may find solidarity in these characters and close the last page with a full heart.

This book slayed me! I cried and cried so I had to put it down several times and continue another day. I loved it but it was not an easy read but life isn't easy sometimes...

The characters were drawn with so much tenderness and love that I could feel the authors love for them. It was beautiful written and I will recommend this book to whoever listens to me. I'll carry these characters in my heart and mind for a long time.

Wow, what a beautiful story of loss, grief, and learning to live through the terrible situations you’re given. Each character’s story leaves you rooting for them, and the book has so much to say about the heartbreak that comes with love (spouse, parent, child), and the beauty that that love can hold. This is a special novel that will stay with me for a while.
