Maybe I just like my alphaholes to remain alphaholes. I don’t think Shadow needed a bit personality transformation which just felt off to me. I would have been happier if he remained the same personality but was a cinnamon roll only for Petra.

I didn’t warm to Petra as I found her to be hard work to like but i did like that she stood for Shadow when the rest of the crew treated him like shit for no real reason.

fav!

Again Alana kills it with emotionally damaged pair. Each of them overcoming their own Trauma In order to find their way to each other. It was a very emotional roller coaster which was completely enjoyable

Unnecessarily triggering PTSD references, I hate how the author referenced PTSD and CSA and it was infuriating to see the character just "decide" she didn't have PTSD anymore. I like the other books but this one made me really mad. If you're a victim of CSA or have CPTSD maybe skip this one if you aren't in a good place.

I just wish he had had the chance to say a big eff you to his parents.

Sweet relationship here.

I don't get why they thought he was such a dick. It wasn't as if he had a choice with the forced sex with Grace in book 1. Sure, he didn't 'take care of her'... but why should that be all on him? Neither of them had a choice. His way of coping was closing off.

Petra’s funny as hell! Her playacting to get her price down was hilarious. It was 85% into the book before Zar and Anya started showing up. I thought Shadow and Zar were friends. What happened with Anyas pregnancy? Only a few showed up in this book. What happened to everyone? There is hardly any interaction, just Tyree and Grace who of course are in the next book. I struggled to finish this one.

So Petra wakes up to find herself in the slave auction on Numa where the escapee ship is headed to earn money in the fighting arena. Petra sights another human and begs for release. She has to earn her cost back by doing some exotic dancing. Shadow, the grumpy cyborg that everyone disliked in the first book, has to save her from her success and the two start to hook up.

Petra earns her place on the ship and learns how disliked Shadow is, but his growing feelings for her make him want to be better. Her growing feelings for him make her want to be better.

This is a redemption story. I love a transformation. I love character development. I was all in. Shadow was hot. Petra was kickass. This book was light, fluffy and low angst. Just my thing.
