Leuke thriller!

Not exactly what I was hoping for. While the constant unraveling of the twists had me shocked occasionally, it was still pretty slow to get through. The book could have done with some more editing and the characters needed to be just a little bit more consistent. I felt like they flip-flopped on a dime, which as a reader, gave me whiplash. The twists at the end came all at once, some genuinely shocking.

I've been looking for this book in a library since I saw it in tesco the other week! I adore the map at the start of the book omg it's so pretty not to large so it isn't overwhelming.
The prologue begins on the Friday night where it is clear a party of some sorts was taking place. Harsh voice saying "move forward" to the ocean?
Odd if it's a person.
Chapter one begins with the past. 14 hours earlier to be more precise. Blood... Already? A knife from 'him' yet it was a dream all along....? On page 10 an envelope appears where she's just stepped over  this note explains that she must have dropped it however on the top of the note is what "I know who you are" followed by "and soon everyone else will too" this is off.
Along with the chapters already seen me to be very long which is not my type of book. Due to know it had said
I know who you are seemed to follow Cass everywhere due to the version of herself she had left behind a long time ago...
Why did she leave that side of herself so long ago?
Chapter 2 Begins on page 13 with a person called Brooke and indedicated she is using a laptop to minimize the size of her thighs a Barbie perfection.. Photoshop?
(body dismophia?)
a person appears behind Brook scaring her yet it is later revealed to be Neil.
Skipping forward up to
chapter 19 again with Brooke, it indicates that she has had something happen to her that  morning and there are many cruel attacks that fill her inbox  so presumably negative emails? Mentions of Brief self-harm ib chapter 19 on page 259 when Brooke States she feel a sick  pleasure in watching cass' face contour as she sees the scars yet didn't tell her what led her to originally cause them...
What did.?
Chapter 41 with Brooke on page 338 when she squeezes her eye shots to hear the sound of a gun erupt and braces for the hot pain that will flood her body after the impact. In addition to this, in chapter 42 on page 344 this chapter is based two weeks afrer  the initial accident on the resort...
This chapter begins with Brooke again slowing that she did not die the previous chapter saying that the wooden rods she grasps as her body jolts as the impact of the engine leaving the island..
This book was a quick read however not the best of reads despite the cover being really aapealing. Overall for the book only including 359 pages I believe it could have been a little bit shorter and more snappy, it wasn't the quickest thriller I've ever read or the most grasping. However the writing style of this was interesting but again not the most gripping and I probably won't pick this book up again which is why I'm glad that I went for a library book instead of paying for the book myself.

A thriller has to be really great for me to love it and I just wasn’t a big fan of this one. The beginning was really slow and things picked up at about 65%. There are a lot of characters and there wasn’t anything specifically interesting about any of them which made the story a little hard to follow- “which one is Doug? Neil? Logan?”

As someone who traveled to Thailand years ago and attended a full moon party, some of the scenes felt nostalgic to me, but that’s really all I enjoyed.

I personally prefer thrillers where I have an idea of what’s going on (even when my idea is misguided and will end up with a twist in the end), rather than the whole story being an unknown. I felt like the whole first half of the book had chapters that ended with “but they don’t know about my past” or “I have been lying all along”. And the constant whodunit just got a little old.

Thailand. Two women. Twists upon twists.
This is The Resort by Sara Ochs.
Cass has lived in the island of Koh Sang for two years - she works as a divemaster and is recently engaged.
Brooke is a travel blogger, well-known on Instagram for her gorgeous photos and location recommendations.
Both are on the island to escape pasts they couldn't shed.
Suspicious deaths have been taking place on Koh Sang, making for the ultimate "locked island" mystery. Chapters alternate between Cass and Brooke, slowly peeling back each woman's story with tons of reveals.
This was a fun and satisfying thriller, perfect for a summer or travel read.
Recommended!

I liked the plot but was put off by some of the descriptions of characters and events that could have been handled better/with a more practiced hand

I hate giving bad reviews, but this did not work for me. Some of the elements felt vaguely offensive, and the writing was just not it. I did finish it, cuz I wanted to know the ending. Which was…. An ending.

I will write an indepth review after I let my thoughts settle. But overall it was a good book imo, it definitely seemed by the synopsis it was like the movie fantasy Island meets a murderous TV show/game minus the prize money at the end and it was definitely not that lol. But more thoughts to come.
