“Never mix vodka and witchcraft”
I found this book in a local bookstore, and it seemed like something that I would like. I have seen it around on social media, and seem like a lighthearted romance involving witches. Do I like romance? Yes. Do I like witches? Absolutely!
Look, this isn't a bad book, in any way. But there is something about second-chances books that I can't seem to like. I think that the only book of this kind that I absolutely love is Persuasion, by Austen. The characters are interesting and funny at times, the book has a good structure, and the story is interesting enough, but, to me, it was just "meh". However, I think that this is more of me problem than a book problem. Therefore, I'm giving it a 3.5 stars rating (but I'm being a bit generous). I can also say that this has fall vibes all over, so if you like romances with fall vibes, maybe give this one a chance.
Now, the question is: will I read The Kiss Curse? Yes, probably. It seems like an enemies-to-lovers romance and that's my favorite kind of romance.

This was really cute. I wasn’t sure how much I was going to enjoy a modern witchy love story, as I tend to go for more high fantasy type worlds, but this was really enjoyable. A quick read with a bit of spice. The plot did move really slow at some points and really fast at others, but overall - a good little comfort read. I kept thinking about how it would make a great movie.

Witchy adorableness! This is a cute second chance romance with just a dash of paranormalcy to make it interesting. I loved how clearly Vivienne and Rhys loved each other, and that the drama came not from good ol' miscommunication, but from much more mature themes; in fact, the way they both went about their second chance -- "I'm a grown adult, why shouldn't I get to sleep with this person I find attractive?" -- was so refreshing. No angst, just fun, paranormal drama to up the stakes. And I loved the cozy, Gilmore Girls-esque town (they had a Founder's Day, for pete's sake -- though sans punch) that became the background. Perhaps this book would be even better around Halloween, but I can firmly say witches are good all year around.

The plot was interesting enough, but it would've been more interesting had the romance been fit into the book better. I couldn't really feel any actual chemistry between the romantic leads and the resolution kind of felt forced, in my opinion. It felt like the story should've been a trilogy, and the romantic resolution should've been somewhere in the third book but not the very end. The world the author built would've suited a multi-book arc just fine. In fact, it may actually warrant a multi-book story because it is an explorable contemporary fantasy world. Make of that what you will.
