Ummm...I'm not sure what to say! I feel like anything I write would lead to spoilers and I really don't want to do that with this book. The beginning does pick up from the ending of book 1 with her team being gone. I really felt for Jolie, no one ever wants to go through that. I will say that I am thrilled for book 3! Gah...

Where do I start? This book has literally everything you could want. The plot is so thick and deep, it runs the show. The characters and so complex and well thought out, it’s interesting to see how they all interact not just with the fmc, but all of them together, even the side characters. The world building is exquisite, and you can tell this was a well thought out storyline.

Loved this! I waited on pins and needles for this and OMG Jolie and her boys DID NOT disappoint! Good thing she is so strong, she needs to be for sure! The devastating revelations keep coming and its all Jolie can do to keep her head above water as she is drowning in her emotions. I don't know how much more I can say without giving away key plot points, but its safe to say, the road will get rockier for her before she gets her HEA, but I'm loving every minute of the ride.

I loved G.O.D.S. but after that cliffhanger I was NOT ok! Thankfully Checkmate picks up pretty much right where it left off, so we don’t miss anything. Jolie is heartbroken at the loss of Team Hades. She is rightfully very angry at Team Zeus, and wants nothing to do with them. She swears she will never forgive them for their betrayal, no matter how many times they tell her they had no choice. Eventually she sees for herself just how true that is, how they are punished if they fail a mission, and she starts to try to move on from it. As much as I loved Team Hades in book 1, I really started to love Team Zeus in this one. These guys are all genetically programmed to love Jolie, they are literally made for her, and her for them. Even with that, they’re not perfect and they all have issues to work through. But they do work through them eventually. I can’t really say much more without spoiling anything and I really don’t want to do that! Suffice it to say, I loved this book just as much as the first and I absolutely can’t wait for book 3. Highly recommend!!
