Gallus (H), a Merryllian commander, trains the human pilots so they can fight as part of the Intergalactic Special Forces, but there’s one woman, Quinn (h), a human commander, with whom he’s constantly at odds with. The two embark on a special training mission but unexpectedly find themselves fleeing their ship in an escape pod, landing on a planet full of threats and challenges. As the pair get to know and better appreciate each other’s abilities, things get hot and steamy between the two, even as they must work together to get back to the IGA. Great alien mates romance with lots of intrigue featuring two strong characters who come to support one another even in the face of danger. So many returning characters from previous books - reading the stories in series order really helps to develop the overarching storylines.

Quinn, the female human lead, and Gallus, the male alien lead, have gotten on each other nerves since Gallus was assigned as the instructor for Quinn’s group of human pilot trainees. Frustrated with each other, Gallus demands Quinn come with him for one-on-one training. Then they are shot out of space and end up in an escape pod, landing on a theoretically uninhabited and physically dangerous, though atmospherically safe, planet. Saved by an unknown group of aliens, though still threatened, Gallus and Quinn find their relationship growing into something else…

This story is dual POV, well written, and a steamy, erotic romance. I enjoyed the sexual tension between the lead characters, especially before they got together but also after, and the erotic scenes. I enjoyed Quinn’s determined daredevilry and the resilience her history provided her. I enjoyed Gallus’ shock at her once he took the time to know her, and his increasing respect and care for Quinn. I enjoyed the relationship development, as well as the intimacy, and the character development. I enjoyed the extension of the overarching plot and the depth of the world the author is building. Whilst the romance stands alone, the overarching plot is best understood after reading the rest of the series.
