This was your typical contemporary love story with a twist. A story of a girl who didn't believe in price charming anymore soon finds her prince charming. After pushing him away, trying to be friends, doing everything to make him go, she soon realizes she wants him to stay. Typical right? Well yes but it was endearing and I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys a good sweet romantic read.

This one has a great premise. Unfortunately, it just doesn't do enough with it.

I started off liking the main character but by the half-way point, all I wanted to do was shake her. She was whiny and preachy and lacked any self-awareness whatsoever. It is one thing to write characters with this set of flaws and then tell a story where they make efforts to get over it and another completely where the author basically just shrugs it off and says that "she is what she is". This story is the latter. The heroine makes the same mistakes again and again and again and still gets the guy in the end for her trouble.

I will give it this, it is pretty light-hearted and sweet. If you don't mind a heroine who doesn't have any self-reflection or growth and like your heroes story-book (no pun intended) perfect, then you will love it. There are moments that are genuinely funny and overall it is well-enough written, but not enough for me to make it a recommend.

I would have given this book more stars if Darby didn’t get on my last nerve majority of the time. The rehashing of her “anti-love” rules and the stories behind them got old after a while. But over all, the book was okay. I kind of wished there was an epilogue to where Jake and Darby were after the book ended. I also wish we could have gotten Jake’s point of view instead of just Darby.

I'll just quote something Darby said " I’d rather be a chicken than open myself up to getting hurt again", and that pretty much sums up everything I might have wanted to say in my review :)

Love her writing style!

This was my first Cindi Madsen novel. I love her case studies--absolutely hilarious. I never would have thought about comparing failed relationships with fairy tales. But it works!! I was disappointed when the sex scene hit at 94%. I was hoping that this book would be clean. Frankly I think the storyline would have been better without it. While I am glad that I read the book, I am not sure if I will reread it.

I enjoy reading this book. I constantly counting the fairytales that have princes and princesses.

And for the record, a knight is better than a princes.

JAKE KNIGHT ❤

Cinderella Screwed Me over is the hilarious tale of a woman who no longer believes in true love. Darby has gone so far as to write case studies for the various princes and why they aren't as good as they seem. The case files were amazing, not only did it let Darby's personality shine, but it was a great way to shine a light into her past without the traditional flashback/reminisce scene. After awhile you begin to understand why Darby is so set against ever falling in love again.

On the anniversary of her one year off men, she meets Jake and instantly assumes the worst about him. But Jake is something special, he is the one that doesn't want to give up. He sees something special and unique in Darby and won't accept no for an answer. He is willing to give Darby all the time she needs to come to her senses and realize love is real.

With numerous ups and downs in their non-relationship the book was impossible to put down. It's humorous scenes and incredible dialog made the characters jump right off the page. I absolutely loved everything about it.
