This book is magic. It’s a long, slow magic, full of redirections, rabbit trails, and pointless detail. But there’s magic in it still, and if you can stick with it you’ll find it. One of my all time favorites.

les mis is a well orchestrated critique and social commentary with the portrayal of justice, women, love, and more and i think it’s absolutely worth discussing and analyzing! i really liked jean val jean & javert but god damn did i dislike marius and his whole love story with cosette… victor hugo could write all that but still not give cosette a personality! my appreciation for the writing was fluctuating at times but overall still a good book though
