Chapters 17-47 of ~400, Vols 7-9
Continues the Golden Age arc.
Covering the Battle for Doldrey, Griffith's royal scheming, Guts departure from the Band, Griffith's capture and imprisonment, Guts first(?) encounter with the skull knight, and Guts reunion and romance with Casca.

One of my favourite Berserk sections so far. We see some cool action (and epic skills) from Casca in the Battle of Dodrey. The 'wide-angle' scenes of the siege are incredibly drawn.

We also see Guts take a big step forward in character development by leaving Griffith (the re-match duel between them is a fantastic moment both of action and of character-based storytelling).

We also get the 'Wounds' chapters, where the exploration of trauma and love between Casca and Guts is... some of the most touching and human scenes in such a brutal and bloody manga. Guts reaction to intimacy feels very real, and knowing that tragedy is coming (it's Berserk after all) makes these moments of happiness and future potential all the more heartwrenching.

Still enjoying these as I am going through. I really enjoy the artwork and the story. It is super enveloping compared to other manga that I have read in the past. No filler for sure and keeps me thinking about it for some time after finishing. I truly only disliked one part of this book and that was
the king touching his own daughter after what happened with Griffith. I know that before, it happened with Guts but it was not as graphic.
For that I had to give it a content warning. Thankfully it did not go further than it did. Other than that, I will say that it seems the story is coming together more and more with every page. Casca has become a top favorite character next to Guts. I CANNOT wait to read more. Before I even finish with one book, I find myself buying the next. If that does not tell you how good this is, then I suggest you pick it up for yourself and see. I continue to recommend this to anyone who is interested. It’s just that good!!!
