'Mossflower' is a prequel to the first book in the series, 'Redwall.' It tells the story of how the woodlanders win Mossflower wood from Tsarmina, a mean wildcat. It also explores more about Martin the Warrior, who has become a legend to the woodlanders in the original book.
This story is a great look back at how Redwall came to be and a peek into why Martin the Warrior is such a beloved mouse to those who live in Redwall. We also get to explore more of the woods and surrounding areas than in Redwall, including our first glimpse of Salamandastron. I highly recommend the audiobook version of this series as Brian Jacques narrates it and is joined by a full cast. It is also added to with music that helps to set the scene.
If you love stories about animals and are looking for something fun to read, the Redwall series is a great option.
Moderate: Animal death, Death, and Violence
