The book was good however predictable. I knew the moment Serenity came into Jenna's life so late in life that she was sick and dying. Still made for a great story, but like I said predictable.

I’m a BIG Susan Mallery fan so there was no doubt I would like “Already Home”. What I hadn’t expected was how different this book is from other Mallery books I’ve read. All the previous books I’ve read are centered on romantic relationships; “Already Home” is centered more on family relationships. I liked that Jenna was opening her own business. That interested me because I hope to do the same someday. The business ideas Susan writes about are things real life businesses should take into account. I wish I could find places like these to spend time. Jenna’s birth parents brought humor to the story. I could so easily envision this couple and it was a hilarious sight. I wish there were a way to bring to life these men Susan writes about, Ellington is just about perfect!! His and Jenna’s romance is realistic and what readers who don’t like contemporary romance will enjoy is their romance isn’t the center of the story. Susan has managed yet again, to not only create a story where I fell in love with the main characters, but one where the secondary character of Violet had me reaching for the tissues. Violet’s backstory is heart wrenching but her character’s strength is inspiring. The ending of the book was an emotion fest. Between Violet’s confessions to a man who refuses to let her push him away and Jenna’s unexpected family news, I had trouble reading through my blurry eyes. I give “Already Home” 5/5 stars. This heartwarming story of confidence, friendship, love, and the imp

I enjoyed this story. It felt very true to life, with characters that were real and had depth. More of a family drama than a romance.

For me, foodie elements mitigate the romantic cliche of chick lit. Gobbled this right up, so to speak.

The heroine was seriously uptight and anxious and needed a valium or something but I enjoyed this novel.

Read this with a group of co-workers, striving to read out of our usual genres. (Notice I don't have a "romance" shelf in GR).
I'll give this 1.5 stars. Didn't hate it, but it was so full of cliches I began referring to it as "Already Done". Took some advice and made a drinking game out of the experience - this helped me to finish the book.
Not going more into plot/characters/etc as some group members may not have finished, although it is pretty impossible to spoil it, so predictable.
(Did I mention I don't read fluff/romance?)

I have completed this, but I can't review it here because I read it jointly with a bunch of people I work with (as an experiment, we chose something none of us might typically read) and I don't know if they're done with it yet. AND, because anything critical I might say about it would be spoileriffic.

This is one of those contemporary romances that make a good bookclub book. There is so much more there than just a romance. So many more themes that get me thinking.
My only comment I would have loved an Epilogue to see how everyone is doing - endings were implied and I guess it is up to me to decide where they go!
