This is book three of the Daughter of Winter series and the main character Wyn, is dealing badly with the news of her adoptive mother’s cruel death at the hands of the Morrigan. War is coming and the Morrigan is controlling all the demons, whilst the King of Summer, Angus, is trying yet again to take the power of the seasons all for himself. Wyn must face the Library of Lives again, after she allows herself to wallow in her grief and anger for too long and uses a unicorn’s sparklies to allow her to forget. She has been ignoring the bond between her and her four sexy Guardians and thought she could become ice cold like her birth mother, Queen Beira, to cope. She is able to think in the clam of the library, where she is to decide if she wants to live or die. She has bottled up her magic so much, that it has flared out and destroyed part of the palace. Her mother has been weakened further by her efforts to save everyone and still has Wyn to save, if Wyn wants to live. She soon realises how much she needs her men, Storm, Frost, Arc, and even Crispin, who may not want her after all the hurt she has laid on him!
Wyn must take over her mother’s duties and make sure everyone is prepared for war and search for any allies she can find amongst the Gods and Goddesses. The Queen of Spring, Flora, sends a messenger to her court and seeks to speak to the Queen in person, which brings the chance of an alliance with an army and realm once loyal to Angus. She knows practically none of them and must invite them to a party, so they can enjoy meeting her and others, whilst also talking of such a serious matter. She has a God training her on her unexpected new power and also finds herself developing a deeper bond with some of her Guardians. Crispin is still suffering from the things he did on behalf of the Morrigan and needs reassurance from Wyn that she doesn’t hate him for all the things she made him do. The Morrigan always seems to be ten steps ahead of everyone else and was created to be the strongest out there, and her next trick nearly sees Wyn assassinated again, by someone she thought she could trust implicitly. But not everyone is who they seem, as she will find out!
Three of her Guardians go to scout out a location given to them by a trusted source, that will hopefully lead them to where the Morrigan is hiding and maybe even where Wyn’s father is being held. Her Guardians may be well trained and brave and would do anything for her, but they are no match for the Morrigan herself. If they run into her on their scouting expedition, their lives could be forfeit and Wyn would lose three of her four loves. Wyn is able to get glimpses of what one of her Guardians is seeing, but that just shows them reaching a destination. The next glimpse shows them in mortal danger and Wyn must rush to help them if she can. Only her mother and Angus have the power to teleport people and themselves to locations, but as we are finding out, Wyn is not limited to the usual rules about Demigoddesses when it comes to her powers and new ones seem to appear, either at the worst possible time, or just when she needs them! The lives of her three Guardians are on a knives edge at the end of this book and finding her true strength and being able to fully control of her magic, may be the only thing that can save them all. Her bond with these three men is the strongest it could be and they share so much through their bond. I hope to see more happen because of their growing bonds to each other and hope it will make a difference in the war to come against the twin forces of Angus and the Morrigan! This should have been the last book in this series, but there is still more to come for the main characters and a war to be won. I can’t wait to read the final book in the series. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Book three gives us more of Wyn's story and keeps us getting to know her guardians a little better. I love each one with their very different personalities. As we get more of Crispin and Frost, we find Wyn's mother still weakened and Wyn getting ready to win the impending war. Wyn goes through a lot of things in this part of the book, dealing with the death of her human mother, drugged with unicorn sparklies, and finding the strength to save her realm. There is a a great breakthrough with Crispin and each of the guardians enjoys their time with Wyn. Skye MacKinnon writes this story with passion and emotions, giving the listener a thorough workout! I am hoping we get to conquer the Morrigan soon,Wyn certainly deserves her happily ever after with her men!

Laurel Schroeder continues her amazing narration of this saga. It's full of characters, and Laurel is so professional that you can go from book to book and know the voice of each character. Her consistency and ability to act out the emotional pulls in this story make it a phenomenal listen.

Wyn is dealing with a lot. She has to deal with the ending of the last book and being thrown into a role that she hasn’t really been prepared for at all. After the first little bit of the book I think Wyn deals with her role extremely well. Much better than most people would. She has the strength and the help from her guardians that she needs to be an excellent ruler.

After the ending of this book I am already listening to the next! So excited to see what happens.

I thought this was going to be the end of the series, but to my surprise the series has been extended into a fourth book. I am sooooo happy!
The series keeps getting better with each book I can't wait to see what is in store next!

This book was sexy, and about a woman finding herself and becoming who she is.

I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an unbiased honest review.

This book has so many up and downs and feelings all over the place. In the beginning wyn has shut down all of her emotions becasue she can't deal with anymore. Then biera is sick and wyn must take over ruling the winter realm. So much happens but I don't want to give anything away. We also meet some other gods which is fun. Wyn really grows in this book becoming more confident in her new life. Love this series so much can't wait for the next book.

At the beginning of this book, I won't lie. I didn't love it. It was a very bad disappointment from the first two books. But being optimistic, I decided to stick with it. I'm glad I did. The story was just as intense and thought-provoking as the first two! I can't wait to get the next book in my hands. I fully recommend this book. It's witty and charming and engaging! I recommend reading the first two books first!

Wyn has to deal with a lot of deep dark emotions in this book, which Skye has written really well.
With war looming closer against the Morrigan, Wyn and her Guardians need to work on a plan to be battle ready.
This book sets the ending up perfectly for the fourth book in the series.
