A beautiful queer love story that also happens to have zombies; does it get any better? Seriously, this was a pleasure to read, and while it was sad and had its tragic moments, it was also one of the most honest and refreshing depictions of love, and falling in love and being in love, that I’ve read in a long time.

I believe this is the first book I’ve read to make me cry.

This book was only okay and I wouldn't really recommend it. It had one of my biggest pet peeves: I hate when books try to be relatable by inserting real world cultural references with not purpose. A ridiculously fast acting zombie virus exists in this world and so do troy sivan concerts, kingdom hearts, IKEA and the song "weathered" by Jack Garratt. Something about that bothers me to no end.

Beside that - I didn't love the characters, didnt love the structure nor the writing.  Allegories for the aids crisis are important stories, this one (if it was) just wasn't that good. It felt like it was trying too hard all around.

two cheating plotlines both based around them not having as much sex as the other wants so its partly justified?? the romance was not strong enough for me to root for them through cheating, especially w the weird reasoning
the writing was fine, not bad, not something to write home about, the characters weren't super loveable (to me), it felt like neither the romance or the characters had much depth. felt very flat even with the obvious drama. also, i'm not one for any pop culture references in a book but that's obviously just a personal preference

Meh, I understand what it was going for, but some of it felt really weird. Zombies going on, and there's mostly talk of someone terminally ill not putting out enough so it's okay to cheat on them. Attempt at a very emotional ending without much care for the characters.
