I have mixed feelings. I was underwhelmed for a lot of it, but there were parts I really enjoyed. The flashbacks for example were really interesting and I found the ending satisfying enough.
I really liked the first book but these other two just didn't excite me in the same way. At the beginning of this book I thought it would be a slog - I didn't really have a grasp on the new people introduced in the last book (The Seven) and didn't particularly care about them. Fortunately the book picked up for me in the latter half and I was more invested.
This trilogy as a whole was definitely interesting with lots of cool ideas. I'm glad I finished it.

This is the final installment of the "Outside" trilogy, and IMO, the best! I could not put it down. Even after finishing it, I find myself thinking about certain characters or scenarios and certain aspects of the way technology is evolving in the real world right now and how it corresponds to the terrible--but not hopeless--future Hoffman has created here. Highly recommended to everyone!

Why arm and not a head or neck? And more importantly why not remove it when they had a chance? Unnecessary tension and drama just for the sake of it.

This book ties up the series nicely, even if I found the ending bittersweet. It takes the elements the other two books have laid down — Yasira and her mentor, Outside, the gods, Akave and his quest for vengeance — and ties them all together, with some twists. I'm glad all the groundwork from book two paid off in the end.
