I'm not the target audience for this book, but it was emotional, joyous, and uplifting.

I looooved this book. It was one of those stories that, although I had an idea about where it would go, the how and when made it special and engaging. Definitely a YA book I want in my classroom library. Once I got into the story I couldn’t stop reading.

I'm just glad this book exists for queer teens of color. It's mostly a lighthearted story full of typical YA tropes. And although I usually hate miscommunication, here I didn’t mind because it wasn’t taken so seriously. I really enjoyed the protagonist’s tone of voice and humor, the pace of the plot. Towards the end, the book dealt with more serious topics though and made me more emotional than I had anticipated.
