You know when you think you have a book all figured out? You know who the hero and heroine are. You know who the enemy is. You know who you are rooting for... This book is definitely not that one. You will think it is, but in reality, it just isn't.

I had a hard time with these characters. Their personalities, their actions. They all were just so over the top and annoying. The amount of times I was rolling my eyes, saying, REALLY?... Too many to count. There are moments where I might have liked them, then they go and ruin it within pages. Every single time.

The plot to this isn't what you think it is. It is, but then it isn't. I can honestly say, I didn't see that coming, and I usually do see it coming. I mean, once it happened, it all made sense. It was nonsense, but it made sense.

If you are looking for a thriller, this isn't the book for you. It is marked as a thriller, but it isn't. It's really not suspenseful either. It just it. Aside from it's category, the book is okay. Not great but not horrible either.

This was not quite what I expected. It wasn’t exactly what I would label a thriller but it was absolutely a page turner. I sat there wondering what else this woman was going to throw at her soon-to-be daughter-in-law. Then the ending. Really good beach read.

Loved the twist at the end but if you pay close attention while reading the book, it's a little predictable. Also, didn't like the protagonist - Emily, she seems a bit too whiny and irritating.

Two one stars in one month?! Eegads.
Someone else, in the reviews, said “Lifetime Movie much?” and that about sums it up. The biggest weak point, for me, was that at no point, throughout this entire book, could I understand why Emily was in a relationship with Adam. I repeat, at no point - which really kind of took away from the (manufactured) tension.
I started this as a beach read and would have rated it at least another star if I at least enjoyed the ride somewhat - but I couldn’t even do that and in fact picked up a different book for the remainder of my beach/pool time.
I’m think I’m starting to get real fatigued by this particular genre...

3.5 stars! One of my favorite tropes—evil MIL vs. naive woman in love. A fun, quick read with a good twist.
