The format of this book is confusing at times, especially the beginning which initially put me off reading it but after re-reading reviews I decided to give it a chance. The essays/notes at the end provided insight into the author and story. It does shed light on aspects of the holocaust that I didn't know (the kindertransport) and details of Czechoslovakian's experiences when the Nazi's invade.
