I felt like rushing through the story. Everything happened so fast but also so slow. It was weird. Sometimes I didn’t get the plot because I was missing insides like who is there, when did they come, what are they doing and why? I really loved the writing but the book kind of gave me whiplash. Still kind if loved it.

The beginning was a bit rocky (really just the first chapter was a bit tough to get the first time and I had to reread it).
Otherwise the story was complex and griping and I really enjoyed the characters albeit sometimes the story/characters were a bit too predicable my liking (saw the Altair/Nasir brothers reveal coming from very early on as well as the Lion of the Night = the darkness).
The glossary is a MUST have while reading this book:

Solid world building for the first half of the book where I felt the plot didn't really move forward. But it somehow didn't bother me because of how rich and visual this world is. And oh my! The last third was packed with reveals, twists... great stuff!

I just felt like I was rereading Children of Blood and Bone and then parts of Throne of Glass book 1. The writing was great but after 100 pages I was still very bored and felt I could probably predict the end. So I gave up.
This was an Owlcrate fail for me.
