So I really wanted to get to know Conor more in Crow and Reaper and was so freaking excited when I saw he was getting his own book!
Like why was he with the syndicate.
What made him the way he is. All the important stuff... He is so much more than I expected and his story is kinda sad in the beginning, His upbringing not a good one. But it makes him the man he is and he is a really good man.
The things he does for .......
Its quite amazing! I really didn't want this book to end at all.

Original rating stands after reread.

I feel like this book compared to the other books in the series could have been so much better. But sadly it wasn't. And I feel like the pacing was its ultimate downfall. Everything happened far too quickly in the timeline. It didn't allow for genuine feelings to grow or manifest organically between the MCs. It left me feeling like we were being told how these characters felt rather than experiencing it firsthand. Their relationship was pieced together haphazardly and badly at that. There was potential, of course there was, but it was never given a chance to flourish.

It was very much a wam, bam, thank you for reading. Bye! Type of story.

Just a sloppily put together timeline of events where two people who wouldn't usually find their way to one another together actually do. But it was just way too fast and missing key scenes that could have made all the difference it making their relationship feel like it had depth when in the end it felt like all they had was lust and then supposedly love under duress because of a couple high stress situations.

Meh.

I love this series! I was so excited to read more. This one definitely did not disappoint. Conor is so different and I adore him. He is one of my favorites from this series so far. I love the suspense, the mystery, the romance. Everything was a perfect blend and I couldn't get enough. I can't wait to see what's next.

Love this series. Each one of these men seem like family now. There were a couple of things I questioned in this book concerning Ivy and her backstory which was the main reason I deducted from the ranking. Otherwise, yet another great book from this author.

I didn't have expectations about this book, I'm happy to be wrong. The characters are compelling, the story is good and never boring. I like that the author didn't spent much time repeting herself, the story has a nice flow and a good amount of inner dialogue (I hate when the characters spent more time in their heads then doing other things).

The insta-love bothered me a bit, but not enough to distracted me from the story. For what Ivy been through, I expect for mistrust and less insta-trust, but that's ok.

I love this narrator! She is new to me and even though I rather make doing the Male POV, she has such a good irish accent that I didn't mind! mind you she has a sing-song way of saying things and that might be a bit distracting, but even so I really like her work

This was short and kinda fluffy with a small dose of darkness. I hope this isn’t the last one. I think I’d rather have had a book about Mischa. Conor’s was a bit of a let down after the prior books.

Whilst this is much shorter than the other Boston Underworld books, it is too long (IMO) to class as a novella. Even with it's shorter length it still had lots of depth and two very engaging main characters. I felt a real connection to both Ivy and to Conor, both good people caught up in bad situations, mostly beyond their control. Whilst the story was a little insta-love for me, I did still believe in their relationship. It moved a touch quickly for my preference, but it was still really well written.

There were several plot strands that twisted and wove together really well. The pace and quality of writing held my attention throughout, in fact I read this in one 'sitting'. We got some glimpses of much loved characters from previous books, my personal favourite being Ronan. I love how the author overlaps her stories so that sprinkled throughout this were events from another perspective.

This is a definite must read for any A Zavarelli fan. Whilst it can be read as a stand alone, I do think you need to have read Crow, Reaper and Saint to totally appreciate this book, it's shorter length means some of the mafia background detail is only briefly touched on. For those less familiar with this author's work, it does contain bad language and scenes of violence, as one would expect in a gritty mafia read.
