EN: Well... the movie was SO MUCH BETTER than the book. Hateful characters. Not so much fun. It's more a 2,5 out of 5.

PT: O filme é TÃO MELHOR do que o livro! As personagens do livro são péssimas e não tem o mesmo sentido de humor. É um 2,5 de 5.

I absolutely hated this book, and I'm upset. I’m upset because I really, really, REALLY wanted to like this book. I mean, we all loved Meryl Streep and Anne Hathoway in the Hollywood version of The Devil Wears Prada. The book should have been a million times more awesome. Twenty-somethings and college seniors can relate to a girl barely surviving an internship in the heart of NYC.

The characters were like cardboard, there wasn't enough scenic narration, and the writing was subpar.

Surprisingly I quite enjoyed this novel. It was a bit more relatable than the other fashion centred chick lit. Also it was less sappy than the film

I would like to say that this book was "just ok," or "not very good," because the writing isn't all that good and some aspects of it were incredibly shallow (not just the fashion). But I had way too much fun reading it. Despite its flaws, I really enjoyed reading this book, however guiltily.

i read this during an ill-fated camping trip. in the tradition of the nanny diaries, the one is about a put-upon assistant to a fashion editor. waa waa, it's soooooo hard to get by in NYC.

Funny, sassy, and a lot of sarcasm, the Devil Wears Prada follows a young optimistic college grad who is dying for a start in New York journalism career but finds herself the personal assistant to the editor in chief of Runway Magazine. Forget the fact that Andy has never cared about fashion or has read an issue of the magazine, the title of the position should actually be servant rather than assistant. But what can she do? A million girls would die for the opportunity. Hopefully from what everyone has told her, if she makes it through one year working for Miranda Priestly, she'll be able to snag one of the jobs she really wants thanks to the name and reputation of her boss. Now only 364 more days of literal hell.

I had so much fun reading this. It's a light hearted (kind of) and full of witty comments that had me laughing so much. I already knew the story from watching the movie so many times but even with that background, I still enjoy the journey of Andy's survival of Runway. The ending was amazing and a little different from the movie which I loved. I also appreciated how there were still serious issues being addressed in the book which weren't fully covered in the movie.
