Every joke is at the expense of another whether it's ableist, elitest, fatphobic, racist or just downright rude! I didn't find any character loveable enough to care about and the name dropping of celebrities just got tiresome.

In all honesty, just watch the movie. It's so much better.

I found the main character in general very unlikeable and the book mainly consisted of her workplace abusing her in every way  possible. There were parts I enjoyed, but for me the pacing of the book was generally off. For a long time the plot didn't seem to be going anywhere and then the climax came at the very end of the book, which left me as a reader incredibly confused. It wasn't terrible, but I don't see myself picking it up again.

  • Medium read (6 hours)
  • I hated Nigel and the use of 'flamboyant gay' stereotypes. I also disliked the inconsistencies (both physical and characteristic differences) between the movie and the book.
  • I loved Andy's wit and various relationships. Her friends are more reasonable in the books and the ending makes more sense. Weisberger's writing style is fresh and makes me want to read more books by heYou could sense the effort and comprehension in the character development and traits.

The ending is basically the only good thing about this book. It does what it does really well - but man, do I hate Miranda. Also, firmly in the camp that Andi’s friends and family and boyfriend had every right to be pissed at her.
