Endearing, funny. Made me audibly laugh by the end of page 2. I'd say this book is more a collection of essays than a memoir, but that has the upside of keeping a fast pace.

There's at times an off-putting combination of self-deprecation and navel-gazing that can start to feel tired, but that is a hazard of the genre. You can tell Schneider wrote this book to meet a fast-approaching deadline, and she basically confirms as much. But I find that more relatable than annoying, tbh, so I didn't mind.

Cheeky and informative!! I thought Amy's perspective of her various life situations was very interesting. We don't really have much in common (minus that we're both women, queer, and raised in the midwest- oh we both love jeopardy) so I thought it was a delight to read about her life experiences. This might not be for everyone, it's somewhat stream of consciousness; however, I loved it because it felt like a casual and raw conversation. I read this memoir accompanied with the audiobook and it really was fun to hear Amy narrate the book. I loved stylistically how the memoir has footnotes and essay-like segments. -1 star simply because I wouldn't reread this... I think I would get bored if I reread this

This book could’ve used a stronger editorial hand - I liked the footnotes and the loose structure, but the number of two-sentence-long asides didn’t work for me. Still, a compelling and fun read.
