Cuando no tenías mucho, perderlo todo no te parecía tan malo.

I literally would read Jay Crownover's grocery list if she let me so of course, I was counting down the days for this book. Race was a character I REALLY did not like in Better When He's Bad, for obvious reasons even though he was just looking out for his sister. I also didn't like him because of him so easily accepting the role of "King" in the Point. He just seemed so ready to rule this corrupt place. Brysen was the ultimate ice queen but I knew there would obviously be more than what meets the eye.
This novel moved at a fast pace and was such an emotional roller coaster. I loved reading about how Brysen and Race came to love each other as well as letting each other in. I also loved reading more about Bax and Dovie! They still hold a place in my heart, I loved them so much.
One thing that kind of got me made was that I could see who Brysen's stalker was a mile away. It wasn't too hard to figure out and I wished it was more of a shocker. It could just be that the first book in the Point series was such a crazy and unpredictable read that I expected more.
This book was still a solid 4 stars because the writing is so raw and beautiful at the same time. And Jay Crownover has a gift at creating such realistic love stories that keep you thinking about them into the wee hours of the night!

Welcome, back to the Point

I wasn't sure that Better When He's Bad could be topped. Bax in all his moody glory was a huge hit. I was proven wrong, so wrong. Better When He's Bold was a whole step up.

Race Hartman, The Golden King , didn't grow up in the Point but found his way there and for reasons that are admirable, he stays. Race is just BOLD in every sense of the word. Bold enough to find his way there, bold enough to stay, and bold enough to reign.

Spoiler"I'm at my best when I'm being bold."

He wears the crown of The Point not to have power or become another Novak, but to give it a leader that it desperately needs and can live with.

Spoiler
"You think you're going to single-handedly pull the Point out of the fire, Race?"

"No. But I do think I can control the burn, Bax, and that's all I really want to do."

Brysen is the sweet college girl who hovers on the line between the Hill and the Point. Her struggles are real and her response and reaction to them show just how strong of a character she truly is. I think Jay Crownover gave us a female lead that encompasses what it is to be selfless and courageous. I loved Brysen from the start.

The love dynamic between Race and Brysen had my heart pounding, clenching in pain, melting and soaring out of my chest! Race was definitely swoon worthy.

"I need you to keep me from turning into something I hate, but I can't ask you to give yourself to the streets, to this life, if it's not what you want."

Not as good as the first book. Both main characters were good but I didn't get the zing I got with bax and dovine. It was a decent story and I will read book three.

I had a little bit of trouble related to the H/h of this one. Not sure why, but overall an entertaining read.

Crownover's series Welcome to the Point is an okay series for me. I love love love her Marked Men series but this one doen't really give it to me. The characters okay, plot is okay, and everything is okay. A review to come...

This is a very different type of series for me but I really have been enjoying it. Race is not your typical hero but he still has a strong moral compass. I like the way these books unfold. There is always some amount of resolution to at least part of the story but the overall story carries on through all the books. It is definitely a sign of a very talented writer. This was exciting and the main characters didn't bug me. I liked that Brysen wasn't wishy-washy about her feelings for Race. Looking forward to Titus' book.

Love this series. Had to go back and re-read a little of the last book so I could place all the characters, but love the writing and story lines.
