The storyline with the Noh Mask was pretty spooky and interesting. It's interesting that yoki from the past can enter through the portal to bother Kagome. I can see this being an annoying troupe of her coming back to focus on school and being besieged by monsters.

This volume is possibly my favourite one of the series thus far.

The kappas at the beginning are adorable. It's like a mini comedy show, which continues on with Nobunaga and Hiyashimaru. Although, where Nobunaga's faults are made heavily apparent, such as his inherent clumsiness, he has redeeming qualities which outweigh them. He has a genuine love for Princess Tsuyu and his determination to save her is unmatched. Not to mention his compassion for others and his code of non-violence. He even brings out a sweet moment from InuYasha.

Tsukumo-no-gama always grossed me out for unknown reasons. Especially what he did with the poor girls. It really makes me wonder how the princess didn't notice all the domain girls being brought into the palace, though.

I feel bad for Hojo. The intended love interest that doesn't get any love. He's so dim, I just want to pat him on the head, give him a lollipop and send him on his way home. The Mask of Flesh is creepy as fuck. It is a bit thought provoking, though. Allow me to explain.

In theory, if Kagome had not fallen into the well at the beginning of the series, the Shikon no Tama would never have come back into existence. It would have remained inside her body until she died (theoretically), and it would not have been shattered into a million pieces by her arrow. So, would the Mask of Flesh even have existed if she hadn't have fallen through the well and (essentially) altered time?

Possibly not.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to say she had it coming but... Well, I guess she kind of did have it coming. Or the family should learn to lock their shrines better.

Shippo has an adorable introduction. I'm pretty sure he's my favourite character in the series. Simply because he's so small and cute, but still tries to play tough guy. His encounter with Manten makes me so sad every time. Actually, Shippo was one of the first anime characters I ever drew free-hand.

Cliff-hangers and I have a love-hate relationship. I hate reading a cliff-hanger because I then DESPERATELY need to know what happens next. I even find them to be annoying sometimes. But, at the same time, I love them because they're exciting. I love using them in my writing because I enjoy being a huge asshole sometimes. However, a lot of Takahashi's cliff-hangers are placed right before the beginning of a battle, or before the most crucial point in a battle. I have very little problem with this, because then it forces me to want the next volume to see how that battle ends.

Thank god I don't have to wait for the next volume.
