Este livro foi-me sugerido pela Ana Luísa Henriques e gostei muito... Demorei algum tempo a ler pois fui interrompendo para ler outros, mas conseguia continuar sempre sem ter de voltar atrás.

So, this was maybe my least favourite Gregory book so far. I was really looking forward to reading about Katherine of Aragon, cause she’s legit one of my favourites but this book…the writing….

I admit I speed-red through the last half just to get this book over with. Most of Gregory’s books have plot holes and average prose but this one was just so glaringly…bad? Boring? Disappointing? I don’t know. I’m just moving on I guess.

I found the back and forth of first person and third person in this a little aggravating - italics for her thoughts/feelings and regular type for third person. The story itself was pretty interesting and I thought the author did a particularly good job of describing the sights and sounds of Catalina's growing-up years in Moorish-influenced Spain.

Finished this in 3 days. This book was by Phillipa Gregory and as usual was very good. I gave it 4/5. It definetly gave me new respect for Katherine of Aragon and gave me more of an insight of why she did not just accept Henry’s terms and get a divorce. I mean with history you will never really know the truth but it still gave me a bit more of her side of the story, which to be honest I have never been interested in nor read about. I definetly will read on her story again though! All the wives were victims of king henry, not the other way around. They all had their just reasons for doing what they did.

I enjoyed the book, but found it a bit slow to start, and too abrupt in its ending. To leap from her budding pregnancy with Mary to her split with Henry was rather jarring. I know it had to end somewhere, but really... Most of us know Henry ditched her for Anne Boleyn and a string of others. Either end the story relying on the fact that we're aware of how her not-quite-fairytale ends, or get into some of the meat of that story from Katherine's perspective.

I've been reading this series slowly because I know I will enjoy all these books, they're addictng. I think this is my favourite of the first six!

Ugh. When the story wasn't jarringly jumping back and forth between first and third person (UGH), it was just dragging on and on and on. And if I had to read the phrase "darken with desire" one more time, I was gonna pull a Silver Linings Playbook and chuck it out the window.
