Wowsers, this is a good series. One of the best and more unique characters in the almost over-saturated thriller genre, Evan Smoak is Orphan X. Evan is a former assassin for the US government who now uses his unique skill set to help other people who have nowhere else to turn. In this story, Evan's trainer and father figure, Jack, is in the sights of Charles Van Sciver, the current and ruthless head of the Orphan program, a dangerous place to be. Evan ends up on a quest for revenge and encounters another rogue orphan, a teen girl named Joey, along the way. As the two simultaneously try to evade and hunt down Van Sciver, they form a bond despite the various emotional battle scars they're both burdened with. The whole book was just a pleasure to read - strong characters, strong plot, strong emotion. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Even though these books are mainly jusy action, I keep coming back to them. Evan is a Bourne, but keeping his heart and humanity, where in this part of his story is something he struggles with. I really enjoyed how Hurwitz has puy that on paper. Will pick up the next one in time.
