The way in which I am invested in these characters is superb. I loved seeing the dynamics and the spotlight being shared between politics and romance. Feyre became so cunning, and that was super entertaining to read, especially with her time at the Spring Court.
I also loved the way that Maas, even if it was all super convenient, made everything connected. She has the ability to link things, make some twists and turns (and some I did not see coming,, that was super interesting) and bring the plot all together. I am way beyond the Mary-Sue vibes, and I truly hope that each and every one of these characters has their happy ending! Because she made us know them, understand them, and see who they really are. Even in the middle of the war and a political scheme, the writer was able to bring the sad, crude, and raw part of that ugly reality and intertwine it with entertaining bits that made the reader (at least I felt that) more engaged as the story went by.
And, to top it all off, is how Maas shows different values that make someone strong. How kindness (like Elain), fierceness (like Nesta), and resilience (like Feyre) are all valid and a way to battle against your fears. To young readers, to people with different ways to deal with the world, that is beautiful, in my opinion. Sarah shows redemptions throughout the book, and I think they could be a little more explored but at the same time, that’s life, ain’t it? Sometimes you don’t know why things change, but they do, and sometimes they do for the worst but other times for the better, and facing things, even if with fear, next to the ones you love… That is always a beautiful way of living. In general. (And it’s also heart-warming to read about).
Of course, I can’t close my eyes to how things unfolded rather smoothly,
Even some plot twists and switching side moments looked a little rushed or forced to me, but I don’t know, maybe because so much happened I felt that I was watching a tennis game, my head bouncing from side to side.
And lastly, I mean, you can’t save everyone, of course, but, just asking, Some moments like these felt that the author could’ve played more with the characters’ feelings, but maybe I’m cruel like that 👀

Mor opening up with Feyre? Got me speechless, I love her so much and just wanted to hug her. The Suriel? Cried like a baby. Rhys’ speech before marching to battle? Made me illegally emotional. And Amren? Don’t get me started on her. And, to top it all off, is how Maas shows different values that make someone strong. why didn’t the daughters turn their father into a Fae as well? Or put him in the Cauldron? They just accepted he was dead… But then again, if they did that to him, they would have to do it to a lot of warriors, but still, I don’t know, not even Elain tried to convince them? Sway them a little?mojidaa's review against another edition

So well-written and intriguing. Kudos to SJM who made someone who could not see pictures in her head(How I wish I could see like how others experience it) got to experience the magic and fantasy in her books so clearly. The war towards the end gave me literal chills.

This book is over 700 pages and not much really happens. i got SO BORED in this book i almost DNFd at like 50%. like i just didnt feel a desire to pick it back up so i started it on audio which was better in that i got through it.
I found so many little things that bothered me that i felt added up.
A lot of this book is feyre setting up the future storylines of her sisters. I personally dont care for either sister at all so i found this annoying and that it didnt add anything to the story but instead made it drag. Elain comes off as fragile, weak, and not independent at all. she needs to be babied all the time and its not endearing. Nesta i found to be insufferable honestly. Shes so harsh, abrasive, and just plain mean for literally no reason and i honestly just wanted to skip reading interactions with her. it annoys me that shes a not-kind person but basically is the most powerful being in Prythian (the world?) now. i just really dont find her kind or nice or enjoyable to read about and i dont even want to read the next book about her.
Also, Rhys was so bland in this, which was so disappointing. like there was nothing to him but his martyr tendencies like bro we get it.
Additionally, Feyre and Mor and the sisters sitting on the sidelines watching the war fighting was not giving. Like i want my warrior queens
Also the cauldron is so confusing. Theres like no background or description on like how its wielded or if it is its own being or like is a weapon or both. like is it only spells? can it be willed to so things?
lastly, if everyone is comes back to life, then why have them die in the first place!!!? lol like now we have Feyre, Rhys, and Amren all back from the dead. it makes thw death not mean anything.
