Listened to this as an audiobook. Was enthralled from page 1 and sad it ended. The juxtaposition of present day to 1646 and the 2 female leads was brilliant. I found myself (& my daughter, who got hooked as well) cheering on the leads and yelling at the unfairness of their situations. It gave tangible human voice to a period of history that needs more illumination. Well done!

This was an amazing but heartbreaking story about the life of women, the way it was in the 1646 for Ursula and 2024 for Adeline. 
It’s horrible to think that us women has had so little right to a life of our own choosing, some places it’s still like that but we have come a long way overall.

Ursula was ready to die while fighting for herself and women like her and live her life on her own terms for her mother who died at the hands of a man. 

And I appreciated the representation that abuse doesn’t only come in the form of physical violence, it can also be subtle but still harmful.
