Good book, and I liked the tension between Joe and Maddie, I just wish there was not misunderstanding after misunderstanding. Overal it as a fast and fun read.

Spurred on by a self-help book written by a friend, three best friends challenge each other to face their fears and try the things they had dreamt of doing while in college together. Did they pick up this challenge to better themsleves, or to prove their other friend wrong? Who knows? Does it matter? Yes the characters seem a bit immature. Yes Maddy seems a bit materialistic and frivolous. Yes Joe is a bit unbelievable -the almost perfect man. So what? It was fun and entertaining. It took me away from the messy house and the laundry for a little while. It made me smile. That is why I continue to read these light and fluffy romance books, and I was not disappointed. No, it was not great literature, but it never professed to be. Everything it promised it gave, and I will be looking for the adventures of the remaining two friends.
Thanks Ortolon, for making me stop worrying about the dust bunnies if only for a little while.

Gym reading aka free/cheap on the Kindle.

Make no mistake, this is standard modern romance fare. That's not something I've read a whole lot of any time recently, though back in the day I ate up that Harlequin romance stuff.

That said, I liked this one. The conflict between the two main characters felt believable. It was avoidable, but I could understand how they each felt they way they did. That's not true in so many of these books. Usually it's a misunderstanding that's completely inane and could have been avoided SO easily.

I love a good summer camp book. I was also impressed with the misunderstanding, all of it makes enough sense that I wasn't upset.

I liked that not only was it entertaining, but there was so much great advice in this book. I can't wait to read the other two!

This was my second time for reading this book, and both times I enjoyed it. It was a short read, and some of the book suffered for it. There wasn't much said about Maddy's other friends, which is to be expected because they are getting their own stories, but I was hoping to see a bit more than what was there. I also didn't like how Maddy and Joe couldn't really keep their hands off each other, even though they were camp counselors. I felt it set a poor example for the kids. Maddy was a bit wishy washy for my tastes, but overall it was an enjoyable way to spend a Saturday.

This just felt flat to me. The hero comes across as too soft, the heroine often too hard, then completely opposite. Even the setup: three friends who challenge themselves to conquer their fears, revolves around more coincidence than anything proactive. Maddy has to sell an art work to a gallery and she just happens to get a job offer from the mother of her high school flame to run the arts and crafts for a summer camp. In Santa Fe. The hero, who cried when she left him to go to college, is a former Army Ranger running the summer camp. All those years of battles in the Middle East, he fought because he would think of Maddy selling her art and ain't America great? I just didn't buy it. Secondary characters are even more cardboard than the hero and heroine. All in all, a one dimensional read.
