I would say this was unquestionably the best of the gamma mission books. It was a quick pace action packed adventure with some old enemies and a great tease for the next novel

The Defiant completes its 3 month exploration of the Gamma quadrant culminating in the discovery of a Federation relic. Meanwhile, an assassination throws DS9 into chaos.

Each book in the Mission Gamma series is better than the last. Lesser Evil is an exciting, action packed final chapter to the arc and the best of the set even though it only provides closure for a subset of the plot threads.

The Gamma Quadrant mission concludes with a bang and the full extent of a threat is revealed back home. I'm in!

4.5/5 With what's set up at the end, I have high hopes for the next entry!

The progression of the new DS9 novels has been perfect. It started with a Bajor/emissary story, then progressed to a 4-part series capturing the original exploratory concept of Star Trek, then offered wonderful examinations of the various cultures, proceeding to a mirror universe tale. This all while keeping the overall plot arc moving forward and examining the depths of wonderful characters new and old. A+!

a satisfying end to this quartet, exciting plots that setup intrigue for future books. interesting themes on identity -- people who have become someone they're not (through alien intrusion), characters choosing the person they want to be based on their choices, etc.

much better pacing than previous books in the series, almost made me care about vaughn which is a feat.

The latest (and last) in the Mission Gamma quartet, this was another book in the continuing story arc from after the Domininon War and end of the television series. This one ties up many of the loose ends that had been left in the various other books so far, and in a very compelling and satisfying way - and then drops a bombshell into your lap at the end.

I'd suggest, as always, starting at the beginning with the Avatar duet that began the relaunch of the DS9 series, but hey, it's a good tale regardless.
