This was so freaking good! It’s rare we get a RH fantasy standalone and I think this book had a plan, it executed that plan, and wrapped up beautifully!!

Asher does give warnings at the front of the book, this is a dark fantasy romance and I’m either numb to the violence or I’ve read more disturbing things on page but I don’t think the violence was that bad, it’s more on the uncensual side but best believe our girl did not forget a single thing that happened to her!

Her story was intense, it was mysterious, her internal thoughts and struggles were warranted and the love story was top tier!!!!!

The men’s….i immediately fell for the golden retriever lol I had fun figuring out which dog personality would fit who, and we’ve got a Golden, a German Sheppard and a Plothound…now what that means you’ll have to just read and find out. But just know they were 10 toes strong in their mate and I was here for the freaking ride!!!!

Loved the overall storyline/plot.
But the amount of times this author used the word ‘gargantuan’ is criminal. I felt confused and not entirely convinced of where this author was going with revealing the scorpians character. They want to protect Auset, but then come across extremely misogynistic with the names they called her and saying things like ‘she’s ours’. I picked this up not knowing that it was going to be detailed porn, I would’ve enjoyed it without so much of it.

Fun read. Beginning is dark, with a few dark themes throughout but not bad. Spice 2/5.

I love Ivy Asher, but this was not my favorite. I normally don’t mind dark romance, but the beginning of this story was hard. Our heroine, Auset, wakes up in a cage with no memory of who she is. She’s immediately sexually assaulted, beaten, and left for dead before being sold into slavery as a “blade slave”. Things really don’t get better for a while but I did like that Auset, was very bad ass in her own right and didn’t need a man (or men) to save her. She also stayed bad ass throughout the entire story and wasn’t suddenly “weak” when the love interest(s) came around. I also was surprised by the ending, Auset’s true identity wasn’t something I think I’ve ever seen before and it was refreshing.

The beginning of this book was action packed, then it simmered down and then picked back up towards the end. It was definitely dark then lightened up. I think the author felt we needed a reprieve from the heaviness of the beginning of the book but it seemed to fall flat just a little bit in the middle of the book for me. Aside from that, the book was exhilarating and adventurous.

The details. I was on the edge of my seat at every corner with the action. The world building was really good

I love that Auset called the Scorpions out on their mess. She didn’t just let them run all over her. She stood on what she believed.

I feel like all The Orders will know who Auset is. She was a standout at the bidding. In my mind she went missing when the Scorpions did as well. That’s very noticeable. Not very incognito and they could always compromise her identity.

Curio was my fave. How Bones acted in the beginning seemed to correlate more with Curio than Riall though.

My predictions about the ending was VERY wrong about the bigger picture, which made it better. I was shook. I had the minor details correct though.

I felt like chapter 1 should’ve been a prologue.
