My first Holly Jackson read! Truthfully, I found the first half of the book quite slow - it felt like not much was happening. And then, all at once, there was so many plot twists in the last 50 pages or so.
I liked the characters (some of them anyway) and it’s a shame (spoiler) Red and Arthur didn’t get to be together. Or maybe they did - who knows? We don’t really find out.
Either way, it was a pretty intense book - there was more death than I expected considering it’s a ya thriller. I didn’t mind tho. I liked the writing - not my favourite style ever, but I might read more of Holly’s books someday :) would recommend.

This left me in so much shock and the ending is so emotional. I gave this book 5 stars even though it has taken me so long to read it but I don't blame that on the book. I really liked the characters and all the different personalities, I also enjoyed how fast this book was and the setting.
Spoiler I was in disbelief at the protagonist being an unreliable narrator, and it left me gagged that she has been lying to the reader! Also, I felt so bad for Maddy at the end of the book because she was so sweet. The letter at the end is also so sad, and the fact that Red's last words to the reader is her basically dying is so powerful. I really enjoyed the backstory about Red's mum and their relationship. I also loved the court case because it was quite interesting.

“One sniper. One gun. One red dot. And one liar.”

Five Survive is a very fast paced mystery/thriller that spans for a few hours. Six friends trapped in the middle of nowhere with an active shooter hiding in the trees sounds like something I would enjoy reading about. Unfortunately, the first half dragged but the second half picked up and tensions skyrocketed. This is the part I enjoyed, the one where the characters start pointing fingers and there is absolute chaos. The plot twists shocked me and that ending left me wanting more!!!!

This has 100% taken the top spot of books I've read this year and it'll be a hell of a challenge to beat. This book was so amazing and well written. The characters were incredibly well developed to the point I absolutely hated one of them!
The further through the book I got the more on edge it put me desperately wanting to know what comes next and the ending absolutely destroyed me in the best way!

I absolutely adored this book! The plot twists were incredibly unpredictable, and the diverse cast of characters was fantastic. A small sequel would be wonderful, as the cliffhanger left me wanting more.

This book I have no words. The ending the twists, the main characters. Holly Jackson has done it again, leaving me staring at the wall after finishing her book, I'm in shock. Although i have never wanted to punch a character more Oliver Lavoy irritated the fuck out of me which I think was the intention. Red and Arthur had me screaming/pos. Anyway good book.
