Incomplete. Total disappointment. Will read again when the sequel comes out and revise my opinion.

Introduction to a new storyline. The only issue I have is the massacre mentioned in this book. It was absent from all previous books.
New characters mingle with characters from previous books. Very exciting- creating an amazing group.
The ending - cliffhanger. Diving into the next book.

This is a FABULOUS book. I absolutely love it. The only thing that I might change about the book is to have a little more romantic action between Jonah and Emma. A part of me wasn't very satisfied with that. But other than that this book is amazing and I could read it over and over and not get bored.

I really did not like this one. It was choppy and for all the pages it had, I felt as though very little actually happened. This feels like it was an idea for another story, but was hastily edited and published to fulfill that book deal Chima got for the additional two Heir books. As much as I wasn't a huge fan of how The Dragon Heir ended, I think it should have remained a trilogy and this be whatever else it was supposed to be before it all got changed to the The Heir Chronicles. Props to her for getting that bag, though.

3.5 stars! This whole series is just okay to me. Not bad, not great either. Maybe if I read them a few years ago when I wasn’t as well versed in ya/urban fantasy I might’ve enjoyed them more. Also this one has a new plot line from the original trilogy that I do enjoy. Overall there’s moments I really like about these books that keep me reading the series but they just don’t really ever get there for me

I may be biased: I have always enjoyed Cinda Williams Chima's books. This is no exception. Looking forward to the finale of the Heir Chronicles this October!
