This was a really good volume. I enjoyed all of the three arcs, it is important to say that this shows how is Batman feeling after #50, he's a different man and will try to go back to his old version.

Cold days: Bruce Wayne is at Mr. Freeze trial after he is guilty of murdering 3 women. Of course, Batman stopped him but he was a different man, he had no compassion for him and now Bruce is trying to defend Fries.

The Better Man: Dick is done being Batman, and he'll stay a few days in Gotham. He will help Batman fight the crime as they used to, flashback scenes help this issue.

Beasts of Burden: Dick took a shot right in the head, someone hired The Beast to do it and it's Batman job to catch this guy.

Disclaimer: I received a free ecopy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Admittedly, I haven't been keeping up with Batman. I am aware of some of the stuff that has been going on sent this series started. I just haven't sat down and read any of it myself. Curiosity got the better of me though and I decided to pick this volume up. The volume deals with the aftermath of the wedding in the previous arc. It starts out big with Bruce Wayne being selected as a juror for the trial of Mr. Freeze. Think Twelve Angry Men set in Gotham. Wayne's take on the whole situation is interesting not just for being very self reflective but also for how it seems the average citizen views Batman.

Then it shifts to a nice story showcasing Batman and Nightwing. It takes a much lighter approach that counteracts the heavier portions of the jury trial. There are some goofy villains that show up. And we get to see a more human side to Batman as he interacts with Nightwing. Both of these stories are well done. The art between the two stories are as different as the stories themselves and both styles work.

A. I relate to grumpy Batman partnered with Nightwing on a spiritual level.

B. I was really enjoying this volume until that ONE THING happened. That was just mean and uncalled for. Now I have to wait until the next volume to figure out what happens.

C. I really liked the flashbacks to Dick’s first days at the mansion. They were really well done.

D. The court case was also really interesting. Poor Bruce.

In a completely unrelated note, I really liked the new paper this volume was printed on. It had nice texture.

Look I'm still effing mad about Batman 50, but this is also brilliant. God damn it. I just have to trust that Tom King is taking us on that journey that will be worth it in the end.

This was a rather interesting volume..

We see Bruce as he is on Jury duty on the trial of Mr Freeze and well its an interesting case as his alter ego turned the villain in but after listening to Freeze, Bruce thinks he is not guilty and well the drama starts there as we follow Bruce trying to argue with Jurors that Freeze is not guilty and Batman may have coerced into saying him that and well the fallout of wedding and the drama and that "one bad day" and that "Batman isn't god, he is fallible" and all that and King does well with it showing the psychology of Batman and tries to make him more human and some people might not like it but it makes for an interesting storyline showing that Bruce isn't Inhuman.

But then again we see him teamup with Nightwing as they go after some small time villains and well the banter between them feels like from the 60s and its interesting ad then finally what happens to Dick changes so many things and we see Batman vs KGBeast and its brutal and emotional and Batman wears it right on the face and his angry-ness is on next level and it changes so many things for sure. So yeah this volume was a lot of fun psychological exploration as well as emotional fallout and a big status quo to one of the central DC characters. And the art is good really!
