Chasing Fortune has so much going for it--adventure, romance, humor, and a Belgian Malinois. I have a friend who trains Malinois, and they are very handsome dogs with great expressions. Add to that the characters we have come to know and love in both the Bravo and Echo teams, and this book is a thoroughly absorbing read.

We knew Chris and Rory hit it off when they met in Chasing Daylight. It's been some months now, and they are just reconnecting. Each left quite the impression on the other. However, Rory has secrets, and Chris has his secrets too--Echo team, remember. Being an animal lover, Chris wants Rory to train Bear the Malinois to use on missions. Rory is not telling him (and I won't either; you need to read this for yourself) because she is involved in something quite sinister and possibly dangerous.

What we get is an adventurous story of Chris and Rory falling in love, while at the same time solving a mystery, a murder, fighting pirates, smugglers, and flying all over the world. We see characters helping them from the Dublin Nights series and new characters that hint at new storylines in the future. Brittney's storytelling skills are only getting better. The Echo team series has been Brittney Sahin at her best, and each story is better than the last. Characters, even side characters, have depth and you become invested in everyone. Details in the story, from mountain-climbing to dog training, are precise and well researched. The tale is meaty, and you get totally involved with every scene.

I now look forward to Roman and Harper's story. Still, I can also see a series with Carter (he's a whole book if not a series by himself), stories about some tough women called the Delta team, Chris' younger brother Eli and Wyatt's daughter (?), and we look forward to the Alabama series. Start reading Brittney's books now---you can thank me later.

Lord have mercy. I've wanted this book for awhile. Chris is the super funny, comic relief of the Team Guys. He has a tough exterior, with a troubled past. He doesn't do the "love" thing. You're going to fall in love with him, if you haven't already. And Rory, well she's a small town girl with a pretty big secret. She doesn't plant roots, she roams, and flies. When she's forced into "retirement" so to speak , Chris asks for her help in training a Team Dog. Will she help? Will she fall or fly?

You can read this as a standalone, but please go read the first 7 books in the series. They are all amazing.

Hitting Her Stride

Brittney Sahin has developed as a writer. I am glad I stayed with this series and all the connected books. Her writing style has developed to the point where her characters and plot lines are well rounded. Chris and Rory’s story was well done. They were well matched and had good chemistry. I liked how Chris was supportive of Rory and what she needed to do. I’m looking forward to seeing how Bear develops as a Team dog and how a few other couples deal with each other in their own stories. It was good seeing League members again, too.

It’s hard to say this book is my favorite of Britney’s, because all of her books are incredible...but I’m in LOVE with Chris & Rory. All of our favorite characters are back with a few crossovers from Dublin Night series. Her references of A$$ of America made me smile! It also dives into the issues PTSD that affects so many veterans. This book as love, passion, betrayal, action & suspense. We also learn more about Harper & Roman and Finn; 2021 can’t come fast enough for their books & her new Bama series.

Make sure you give yourself plenty of uninterrupted time to read this one as you will be unable to put it down. Chris and Rory traverse a labyrinth of twists and turns to get to their happily ever after. With a little prophetic help from Liam's daughter Elaina, an assist from Sebastian and the League, Chris and Rory work to take down a trafficker whose empire Rory had spent years trying to dismantle. And even though Chris is obviously an alpha Male, he doesn't try to suffocate Rory, realizing she is more than capable of handling herself. He stands beside her. An equal partner. Each supporting the other in their quest. The two were made for each other. Adding a dog to the group was just the icing on a fabulous cake.

I feel bad that this book took me so long to read. It was the full bananas (like as soon as you think you've hit all the bananas plot points, something else happens!) and it did get a little confusing because there were so many characters. But that's my bad for starting at book 8 in the series!
