really informative book, but sometimes suffers just because of when it was published, i think. more information about cia actions has come out since the late 90s, which might have made the book more comprehensive. but it was still probably the most informative and unbiased account of mary pinchot’s life… peter janney’s doesn’t count because he saw her naked that one time, and i wanted to read this before i read his book. i found the descriptions of mary pinchot’s art particularly interesting, and the conclusions nina burleigh comes to about angleton and other cia officers are interesting, if slightly unrelated to the topic of the book at times…

The biography of Mary Meyer, Vassar grad, CIA wife, and mistress of John F. Kennedy, who was murdered a year after Kennedy was assassinated. Only one chapter is about her relationship with JFK. There is a great deal of the history of the early CIA. I enjoyed reading about life in Georgetown and DC in the 1950's.

Audiobook is definitely the way to go with this book. The narrator did an amazing job with the narrative. Burleigh crafted an excellent biography especially considering the constraints on primary sources concerning Mary, the subject, herself. I loved the history of the setting which kept me intrigued about the world she moved in, wanting to learn more.
