I picked this up on a whim and now my heart is broken. Teddy and Aurelia are such imperfect and beautiful characters and their feelings and self-doubts make them feel so real. 

I loved the story, I loved the magic, I loved the characters and every single line.

This is how you do this particular enemies to lovers dynamic, it’s well crafted with the bite and bitterness that some academics have cultivated. There is an authentically riveting  back and forth, with an effective use of the romance structure in the magic world. My one criticism is that it’s villain is somewhat underdeveloped, hopefully it will be expanded on in the future with other books. A strong first entry into what I hope is a series

Love Rory. Love Teddy. I'm upset that Teddy couldn't go back to Cambridge bc he had to take care of Louisa. But I really love Rory and Teddy's relationship. Academic rivals to lovers>>>. I wonder where Gemma went and when she'll be back. Definitely read this book too early but still eagerly awaiting for answers to all unanswered questions in book 2!!! Lots of love<3.

The writing was very beautiful. It’s what drew me in but there were just some things that I didn’t feel exactly worked for me. I will say Aurelia and Theodore’s E2L progression was really just that and it was slow as hell but it made a lot of sense. 

Was getting howl vibes at one point from Theodore (iykyk).

I’m confused by some of the motivations of the characters but I understand that will be fleshed out in the next book.
