Something Blue is a romance story well-written by author Heather McGovern. Something Blue is installment one in the Orchid Inn series.

Something Blue opens with five members of the wedding party going to the hospital. Was it Ecoli from the salad Beth made? Also, the wedding planners were in the red. Could Beth get them back in the black?

Shelby Meyers recently became engaged and Sawyer was doing all he could to destroy the wedding plans. I enjoyed the bantering between Sawyer and Beth and think they seemed made for each other.

Something Blue would make a great beach read. I give Something Blue 4*/5*

[Beth] has a business to redeem and the a best friend’s wedding to pull off.

Beth Shipley is happy for her best friend Shelby but sad that she never found love herself. Meanwhile, her family business is floundering due to an incident of food poisoning. Can she give her friend the wedding of her dreams?

Sawyer’s younger brother is planning on getting married. Sawyer feels that the couple are rushing things. In fact, he has a long list of reasons why he thinks the wedding shouldn’t happen. One of those very reasons is his own personal heartbreak.

Orchard Inn is THE wedding destination. However, I the location is operating in the red. Beth struggles to fix the problems so that her family business can start earning again.

In this touching story, Sawyer must work through his own angst in order to find what his future will be. Meanwhile, Beth may be frustrated with Sawyer for trying to throw things off track, but she can't help but to be drawn to him.

Many thanks to Forever and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Beth is struggling to find new business after a food poisoning incident at her family-run Inn. When her best friend, from college, asks her to host her wedding at the Inn Beth knows this is just the event to turn their luck around. Needing to book more events to ensure her family business can stay afloat Beth is determined to make this the wedding of the season, if not the year.

Just one year ago Sawyer was left heartbroken when he discovered his fiance had been cheating on him their entire relationship. Finding out the woman you love only wanted you for your name and money…hurts. When his brother announces his engagement to a gal he hasn’t been dating long Sawyer is determined to pump the breaks and ensure his brother isn’t on the same road to heartbreak.

Overall I found this story to be a cute love story between a wedding planner and the groom’s grumpy older brother who’s trying to call it off. There were a few elements that had me pause, if both characters were lifelong residents of the town how did they not really know anything about the other or have any previous interactions? I was getting the feeling this was a small town but it seems weird that, though their properties are close to each other, the Shipleys and Silva’s don’t previously know each other.

Without giving any spoilers I was also disappointed with the speed that the 3rd act conflict was resolved. I really would have loved to see more self-reflection and a bit more resistance to the resolution. Personally, I just found it resolved much faster than felt natural, at least in my opinion.

If you’re looking for a quick novel to read on the beach that’s sweet and funny you should give this book a go. I look forward to seeing what the rest of the series brings us in terms of relationships and shenanigans!
