This genuinely got weirdly spooky, but it also made me laugh out loud in public. A well rounded book that I genuinely enjoyed. I’m looking forward to continuing the series!

Two broken people find love. This takes place in a fantasy setting and does have plot that unfurls throughout but it's so much more about these two people who believe themselves to be too "damaged" to deserve happiness and comfort. The moments that make this book shine are the quiet moments that make the protagonists feel safest; often times in silent companionship or safety and respect. It's somewhat slow and somewhat crams the plot into the last few chapters but because this is about the relationship more than anything I find that a largely forgivable offense.

An interesting fantasy romance which had some laugh out loud sentences. Both the main characters have self-esteem issues and don't think that anyone could be with them because (insert flaws here).  The first half is light, sweet and witty. The last half was more adventurous, mystery-thriller with a happy ending.

That was a very delightful read. I read through the last 25% as quickly as I could, but as luck would have it, people just kept *talking* to me, and I had to be a *normal* person. 

Seriously, though. I loved the two main characters and several of the secondary characters. I can't wait to read the second and third books. 

But I do have a question that may never be answered. How did Stephen's god die? Maybe that question will eventually be answered.
