Here Are My Hands by Bill Martin, John Archambault

OK for body parts storytime. It was written in 1985 and the pictures are not cute-retro but instead just ugly 80s. But the pictures are big and colorful and there is a diverse cast of characters. Finally, it is a rhyming text and the words are a bit bizarre, for example when they talk about ears it says "Here are my ears for washing and drying" which is strange to say the least. I mean, is that really what ears are for?

A perfect book to teach body parts to a child. Very inclusive as well.

Simple rhyming text and crayon drawings talk about different parts of the body and how they function. Great for baby or toddler storytime but not enough of a plot (no plot, really) for preschoolers.

The spread on ears is really dated. I really dislike that ears are for washing and drying. What about hearing?? No one talks about washing behind your ears anymore.

Thanks to Wendy for the recommendation. This simple rhyme is so cute and Lily loves to act it out.

A rhyming picture book about the body and its movements as depicted by a refreshingly diverse group of children. Bold, bright illustrations.
