Great book

I really enjoyed this book. Emily and Kit had a missed connection years ago. Now she’s divorced and he’s set to be the next king....I loved the story, the characters were loveable and I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough.

Ten years ago Emily's world crumbled when she found out that while she was studying abroad her boyfriend cheated on her. She went to her professor and one thing led to another and they had sex. Right after their encounter the cheating asshat calls and she answers, leaving Kit with the aftermath of it. They didn't speak again. He had a family crisis to deal with and she eventually went back to the states.

Now she's back in the UK vying for a job for the royal family's foundation. She didn't expect to see Kit, he's the heir to the throne. She does and he's still just as good looking but something is different. His eyes are cold now, not soft and friendly like they were.

Kit has to clean up a mess his sister has made and the queen suggests that a distraction needs to happen to draw attention to something else. She suggests that Kit and Emily have a fake engagement. He finds out that Emily's company is likely to close if business doesn't pick up. Her ex screwed her in the divorce and took most of the equity from her design business. This fake engagement is the answer to her problems. Emily doesn't want to get married again and Kit doesn't want to give his heart to anyone. Nothing could go wrong right?

I enjoyed this book. You could feel the emotions roll off the pages. Both Kit and Emily are passionate people and together they start fires.

Ergh,

I feel like this was written because of Meghan and Harry something I think most British people are done with hearing about.

First off who the hell around the age of 20-30 says "nincompoops" No one.

"fingers with mine the way Luke used to do, and it was like a bomb went off inside me."
Oh brother.

"Seeing him touch her like that sent me reeling, even more than the sex.”
Really?

OK. So she revenge has sex with this guy when she was in school because her boyfriend cheated on her. Said boyfriend rings she runs off to be with him and princey boy was sad cause he liked her but then his parents died and it kind of went to crap. Fast forward to them meeting again her now divorced from that boyfriend cause he cheated on her. I got to 39% in and stopped highlighting everything that annoyed me cause there was a lot.

I don't think this is very well written. It doesn't flow it feels so disjointed, its almost like a screen play and it jumps from scene to scene.

This book has it all- a fake relationship and engagement, second chance, royals, and fun side characters- the brothers are a hoot. Kit was dreamy (that cover!) and so swoony- such a great lead. I loved that Emily was quite the spitfire and didn't let Kit's status affect her behavior around him- she was herself with him and he loved that. They had amazing chemistry (fans self!). I'm so excited about this series and can't wait to read the next book.

Finally! I am so tired of controlling, alpha males in romance novels. It was so refreshing to find a male protagonist that was such a genuinely good guy. Kit was so amazing. And while I loved the fierce strength that Emily possessed, ultimately, I found her to be in the wrong on most occasions.

Being a story about falling for a prince, it was understandably a fairy tale. There were many parts that were unrealistic. But I adored it. That’s what a novel like this is for, right? Fantasy. And Royal Ruin definitely delivers on that front.

*Vague Spoilers Ahead*
Okay, so I have to talk about the ending. They are pivotal when it comes to romance novels. This one was... ok. I loved it, actually. I really did. BUT. Because of how the two of them broke things off, I was hoping - no, expecting - the author to break from the formula a bit and reverse the roles. And, for a minute there, I was worried that Emily wasn’t going to do the right thing by Kit. Turns out that I worried for nothing though. It all worked out wonderfully, of course, and I was ultimately pleased.

Anyway, Kit is so unrealistically kind and charming. Which is so dreamy that I find myself crashing hard back into reality.
