There are authors you would die to hear even talk about the weather, I would never have a conversation with Zambra.

The repetition is absurd, not the kind of poetic one, the kind that thinks you stupid so it walks again in front of you, slower, without grace; the voice is one of a male latinamerican author, heard a million times without no one really understanding why they keep printing them in the same font; what got me were the self-inserts... yeah don't do that.

I really enjoyed the first half of this novella, the relationship between Emilia and Julio was enticing and interesting enough that I wanted to keep reading about them. Maybe I was too stupid to understand the literary references littered throughout this book, I was left unsatiated when I finished it.

This book made me want to cry. It didn't move me to tears, but the hollow atmosphere of the book is infectious. It's a shame how short it is, but it could not be any longer or shorter - it is just so.
