Oh I love this book so much! And I’m so glad I went back and re-read it because there is so much in there that I missed from the first go around!

And while I absolutely adore the film as well, there is a lot in the film that isn’t included in the book and vice versa. And some of the points of the book are quite a bit darker that the film makes them out to be.

Also, I tend to forget how British these books are, and then get quite a surprise whenever it mentions pounds and pence or anything like that. I almost think of these stories as being American for some strange reason.

But anyway, I wanted to be Matilda so badly when I was younger and wanted to have the power that she has so much that I spent so much time trying to make things move with my mind and then getting so frustrated when I couldn’t.

What a doughnut.

I just got the chance to reread this childhood favorite, and it didn't disappoint in the slightest! An endearing story that gives reading the praise it deserves.
