I was surprised at what an impact this had on my Bible study group. One of the more transformational books that we have read together. I enjoyed the visio divina aspect.

This book is a beautiful invitation to spiritual formation! Nouwen unpacks several movements that a disciple can move through, each giving us greater awareness of God’s presence and developing Christlike character.

Henri Nouwen offers so much practical and powerful wisdom in this book on how we as followers of Jesus can grow to look more like Jesus by following the movements of the Spirit. Each of these movements is walked through with such intentionality, thought, and grace. I can see myself referring back to this book time and time again to continuously glean the wisdom on it’s pages.

This book is phenomenal for spiritual formation. As the title states, it rings true throughout the book. Nouwen simply explains our Christian existence on earth and gives tangible things we can do to better ourselves. Hits in sensitive spots sometimes because some subjects are easier avoided but Nouwen approaches with with ease and confidence.
