Refreshing to read a book that takes place entirely in another country, namely Japan. A word to describe the book is melancholy. A sad coming of age story, with more than its share of suicides, and frank sexuality. The story moves slowly as the protagonist learns to be an adult and truly see the people around him and not just himself. I liked it, not loved.

I've been sitting at my laptop typing and deleting my little review for about ten minutes, but I can't seem to put my thoughts into words. This novel will be sitting proudly on my shelf of favourites.
Emily, I adored reading this with you!
