This book made me so nervous but I loved it so much. Love triangles generally aren’t my thing but I don’t really consider this a true love triangle book because it’s pretty clear who should win out here. But I was still scared which way it would go

What a beautifully emotional book. The emotions really sneak up on you because from the beginning you assume you’re getting another new adult college romance (not that there’s anything wrong with that. I’d enjoy that too) but then it moves far beyond that

This book had me feeling every emotion under the sun. I went from kicking my feet like a school girl, to screaming at the book, to bawling my eyes out. Following Ari as she navigates letting go and finding herself again was a beautifully raw experience. In this self discovery journey, she finds Noah. What starts off as a friendship, blossoms into love. Noah shows her what it is like to be chosen and to be truly loved. While their relationship grows, Chase realizes where he went wrong and tries to win Ari back. This causes tension across the board and while this tension builds, circumstances worsen. I was a snotty mess by the end of this, but the tears were well worth it.

The beginning of the book was really nice and I felt it flowed pretty well. Once I got to the twist it gave I felt a bit of whiplash from the different tropes added in it towards the end that I wasn’t expecting. There aren’t any trigger or content warnings but there are some events that could be potentially triggering towards maybe the last 65-70% of the book.

I was curious about this book but didn’t know what it was about. I just knew that the author was going to be at Sweetgrass. She has a special edition of this book that will be at Sweetgrass, and it’s gorgeous, but I didn’t want to buy it without reading it first to know if it was something I’d like to reread. Looking back, I think going blind is the best way to go because I couldn’t stop trying to figure things out the whole time I thought. Ari’s story was going to end one way. Still, the next, I thought we were shifting into something completely different. Then, finally, I’d go back to thinking that her story was moving back to the original plan. It was crazy, but it is a very emotional story. Ari, her twin brother, and their three best friends are starting college. At the beginning of this book, something happens during their last big party before school starts, and Ari withdraws from everything. So, for the majority of the book, we see her struggling with what happened, coming to terms with it, and eventually moving on. But of course, things can’t just end happily and efficiently; we have to have some more turmoil, which was just wild. I enjoyed the book overall, but I struggled hard at the beginning because I felt I was missing something. We meet a ton of people at the beginning of this book, and it just kept feeling like I should’ve known who these people are, but this book is a standalone, so I don’t know where they come from. So, I think I personally just missed a book somewhere. Although I enjoyed this book overall, I don’t see myself rereading it, so I’m not going to buy the beautiful edition because I need to be a little pickier about which books, I believe, since there will be so many people there.
