I am torn. I adore Julie Kagawa. I've read all of her books. The Iron Fey was magic. The Immortal Rules was hardcore. But this... it just falls short of her other work.
The world Julie created for this series has oodles of potential, but it's squandered on half-baked ideals, too little immersion into the world itself, and AN EFFING LOVE TRIANGLE.
I get it, love triangles exist in books. But this one is so over the top and unbelievable. Each of Ember's "sides" is drawn towards the other guy. And they love her and will die for her after not really being with her that much. It just doesn't make much sense and isn't fun to read about. When the MC is being pulled every which way, it reverberates with the reader... which brings me to my next point..
TOOO many POVs. What's next, Wes's POV? I wouldn't be surprised -.- There should be one POV and that's it in something like this.
I also don't like that this is going to be such a long series. It is going to feel so stretched I think.
But aside from all that, it does grab you and read well, true to Kagawa's usual form. It wasn't a pain to read by any means, it just should all be refined more to give the reader a better immersion into this world and the story itself.
I wanted to love this series because 1. dragons & 2. Julie Kagawa. But I just can't. I find it to be ok/average. I think I will continue on when the next one comes out, but I just don't know with my waning interest in YA if I will or not.
I'd say if you are on the fence after the first book, don't read on though. I kind of wish I'd stopped because now I'm at that dilemma of having to buy all the books since I bought the first and second one *facepalm*

Denne bog indeholder en smule mere spænding og drama end den første bog i serien, og den fangede mig helt klart også mere. På trods af det manglede den lige det sidste, før jeg var helt tryllebundet.

Oh you know, a little burned, a little sore. Nearly died a couple times. The usual.
Ember is on the run with Riley/Cobalt. Garret is about to be killed for helping Ember. Dante is tasked with capturing his sister back for talon.
Full of a lot of the cliches as the first, won't be continuing with the series.

A young girl named Ember and her brother Dante are sent for immersion, to learn to imitate humans and blend in to society. During the first book we learn of Garrett, a soldier of the order, who is sent to find if she is really a dragon, and Cobolt/Riley, who is a rogue Dragon who is trying to save her from Talon Network. The following books just follow their adventures and fights with the order and Talon...but in a fascinating set of twists and turns...and I'm not generally a fantasy person. I love this series!
