This is the third book in the Hope island series and again a very easy summer read. Unfortunately however I found this book predictable and a tad boring . The relationship between Rome and Freya just seemed to go round in circles and I found it quite drawn out at times. I skim read through parts of it . Unfortunately not one of Ms Martins best in my opinion .

I love chick-lit women's fiction, but tend to read them very rarely, as some I can find quite far-fetched. Although it's nice to immerse yourself in a 'happily ever after' book, it can sometimes lose its novelty if the book seems to be too unrealistic. Summer at Buttercup Beach however, ticks ALL the boxes of a good chick lit. A realistic story, with very likeable main characters, and a story that gradually builds to a climax at the end, leaving you invested in the characters' happiness and eventual happy ending. I loved Holly's writing style and the way she sets the scene. I have absolutely nothing to fault with her writing, the plot was great, it was believable and enjoyable, and was an all-round 5/5. I am looking forward to reading more of her books.

From the blurb, I presumed that this was a cute romantic Summer story about two friends who worked together, both harbouring a secret crush on each other.
Your girl here loves a slow burn, so I bought it.
Unfortunately, it's less slow burn and more intolerable lack of communication with a highly unlikeable female lead.
The main issue I had with this was that the characters seemed like completely different people in their own chapters versus from the others POV. In her chapters, Freya was saying and doing one thing and in Rome's, she would say or do something that was totally at odds with what she was supposedly feeling or thinking.
The lack of communication was abysmal and the preoccupation with the word "love" was immature. I expect the odd misunderstanding in a romcom, I don't expect the same one told ten times over.

Started off Good

This book started off good but I felt it got redundant after awhile. I unfortunately did not finish it . As much as I tried to love this book I just got bored after awhile and stopped.

Freya and Rome were really annoying characters. It was just so repetitive and you could always guess what was coming on the next page. The story made me cringe multiple times too
