however,wayne dying?? that was so freaking rude but also so good?! :'( i had tears in my eyes and it was just so good. i also love that he was mega rich and his attempts at bad investments, that turned out good?? iconic.

I considered rating this book 4.5 stars for the threads left in the air by the end of it, but upon further reflection, this seems like a perfect ending for the characters we've come to know while leaving a platform for the upcoming third and last generation of the Mistborn saga. This book has made me laugh out loud, and it has made me cry, it has kept me glued to the pages because I could not put it down and be left wondering what would happen next. I think this is a sometimes almost imperceptible transition from Mistborn's more fantasy setting into the sci-fi overall of the Cosmere, and I loved it. Wayne, you were so flawed and yet so real. I loved that you were able to acknowledge your past and current flaws and let them go, in a way, moving on to become your best self before meeting the hero's ending you deserved. R.I.P. buddy.

I don’t know how he does it. I’ve admitted that I’ve not been terribly invested in Era 2 from the beginning. Sure, the first three books were entertaining, but I felt like they were missing. . .something. So please explain to me how this book made me CRY SO HARD, I gave myself a headache? Ugh. Sanderson, the evil genius. This was definitely my favorite of the Era 2 books, probably because it opened up a whole can of worms and questions about the cosmere and not because it somehow sneak attacked my heart and Shattered it like Adonalsium.

I have a complicated relationship with Sanderson, but this book was one I really enjoyed.
This is the final book in the Wax and Wayne series, so it'll be difficult to explain much without too many spoilers, but it takes place six years after the end of Bands of Mourning and war is brewing once again.
I loved the relationship dynamics of all kinds in this - Wax and Wayne probably being my favorite, but also loving Marasi and some new friends she makes in this book, Steris is a delight and I've loved seeing her character growth throughout this. Just fantastic in the way of relationships.
I also really enjoyed seeing all of the interesting Cosmere things come up in this book. It'll be interesting to see how all of that comes into play later or otherwise.
Also even though I saw the ending coming a mile away, I'm still sad by it, but it was satisfying regardless.
All in all, a fantastic end to a good series.

The Lost Metal provided a far more epic and fitting ending than I ever could've imagined for Mistborn Era 2. It was emotional, triumphant, and ultimately beautiful. Just like the ending to Era 1.
To me, I can't exactly pinpoint it, but it felt like there was an almost exponential leap in overall quality with this Era 2 novel compared to the previous entries. The character arcs were amazing, and the mystery element was even better than Shadows of Self. This books was such a wildly fun ride. And it made me appreciate Bands of Mourning much more.
And I can't forget to mention the crazy and intriguing Cosmere connections. They're awesome.
This was one of the better reading experiences I've had. What a book.
